Kyan's Guide to Shaving
Guys: Want to know how to put your best face forward? Rach's buddy Kyan Douglas has the tips you need to know to get the cleanest, closest shave ever!
• Use a shaving brush to apply shaving cream. A brush helps to lift the hair up; they also help to exfoliate the skin, but make sure to go with the grain.
• Shave twice. When you use your razor, shave the first time with the grain and the second time sideways into the grain, which actually gives you a closer shave.
• Use products with salicylic acid. Found commonly in acne medication, salicylic acid helps to exfoliate the skin, disinfect any infections and soften the beard. The combination can help prevent future razor bumps.
• Avoid aftershaves with alcohol. Alcohol can be an irritant and can exacerbate razor bumps.
• Shave in the direction your hair grows. This lessens skin irritation, so it should be done even if you're shaving in different directions.
• Shaving Cream. Try one that comes out as a gel; it’s more emollient, so the moisturizing properties are making contact with the beard.
• Choosing Razors. If it's not broken don't fix it; if you like something and it works, keep with it.
