He was an undisputed champion on the court with the LA Lakers, but Earvin "Magic" Johnson is pretty humble about his career as a basketball player. When Rachael asks this star for his opinion of his achievements, Magic simply says, "I guess I was pretty good," and flashes that trademark smile. "I don't think you say, 'Man I was really good,' I think you let fans and people say that ... my whole thing was winning championships and making my teammates better."

Now he and his wife, Cookie, are working to help their three kids succeed. "I'm here to support them and try to give them the values that Cookie and I have, and that our parents gave us, so it's really wonderful," Magic explains. He met his wife in college and gives Rachael the scoop on how he wooed her to be his lady. "I just said, 'Hey, boy, those jeans sure look good," Magic recalls.

"I fell for that one," Cookie says sweetly.

Since then, they've added another passion to their relationship -- supporting urban neighborhoods. Through the Johnson Development Corp. they've brought 115 Starbucks and other businesses to underserved communities. "We're employing over 30,000 minorities so now they can spend their disposable income in their own community. Cookie and I really believe in giving back, we have 200 kids on scholarship through The Magic Johnson Foundation."

He is also using his name to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS. Magic was diagnosed with the disease in 1991 and has developed the "I Stand With Magic" campaign to educate the public and halt the spread of the disease. As he tours the country, the basketball great also wants to provide an optimistic example of how one can live with the diagnosis. "Here I am 16 years later living with HIV and we have a wonderful life, three incredible kids," Magic says. "But it's only wonderful if I go and teach other people on how to not get HIV like I did."
