Look Younger in 2010!
It's a new year, and Rachael's personal dermatologist Dr. Anne Chapas is sharing three new cutting-edge treatments she claims can help everything from sun spots to muffin tops!
Sun spots
"Sunspots tend to come out in your late 20s to early 30s and they're the result of all those years when you just didn't think about sunscreen," Dr. Chapas explains. "You had that great tan, but then when the tan faded, you had those freckles that just didn't go away." To help reduce sun spots, Dr. Chapas demonstrates the Fraxel re:store Dual Laser System, which she claims "gives little pixelated energy to the skin that lets the unwanted brown spots just slough off, usually in about one to five days after the treatment." Dr. Chapas explains that the treatments can range from $500-$1,500 depending on the scope.
The "Muffin Top"
"[Ages] 39-49 is the battle of the bulge!" Dr. Chapas declares. "Our hormones change, your metabolism slows ... you're really not able to lose those pockets of fat like you were earlier in life." Dr. Chapas demonstrates the Zeltiq machine, which she claims "chills the fat specifically around the waistband, and it causes it to crystallize and then encourages your body's natural mechanisms to get rid of it and to shrink the love handles, the belly and the back fat."
Crow's Feet
"From our squinting, from our concentrating at the computer, from our raising of the eyebrows, it causes over-expression of the muscles and then creases in the skin overlying those muscles," Dr. Chapas explains. "That's what results in crow's feet around the side of the eyes." She says that the latest procedure involves injecting minute quantities of Dysport, a new botulinum toxin, underneath the skin. Dr. Chapas claims that "it softens the muscles, it softens those fine lines, usually in anywhere from 2 to 7 days and it lasts a good 4 to 6 months."
