Kristan Cunningham: The do-it-yourself expert for everything around the house, but could use a few clues when it comes to clothes.

Gretta Monahan: Style savvy with the threads and expert on all things beauty, but not at home in a hardware store.

So the two women come to each other's rescue with secrets that can transform your wardrobe and home!

First up is Kristan's wardrobe makeover. Gretta takes Kristan to one of her favorite places, Intermix, for a shopping extravaganza! But like lots of people, Kristan gets overwhelmed in a clothing store and isn't sure where to begin. She wants functional, comfortable clothes that she can use for work and meetings, but she still wants to look cute and classy. "Just because you run from overseeing an installation to meeting with a designer doesn't mean a more stylized wardrobe would be less comfortable," says Gretta. "The trick is to choose pieces you're comfortable wearing and that fit you well." Gretta's tip? "Pick shoes with rubber platforms, they absorb more shock. These shoes (in a variety of heights) should be a staple of your wardrobe."

For Kristan's new look, Gretta loves straight-leg jeans especially since Kristan likes to wear bigger tops. Gretta's rule of thumb: "If you're wearing large or billowing tops that aren't fitted, straight-leg jeans break up the width and give you a taller look." Dark-rinse jeans are also good transitional pants that can go from day clothes to a night out. Gretta recommends tops that are more asymmetrical. "Because Kristan doesn't like to show her hips, she should go for longer tops that are angular and give the illusion of length while still concealing the hips. Just make sure they don't tent your body."

After giving Kristan her best secrets, Gretta arms her with a gift card to Intermix and a chance to put the tips to work. Will Kristan be able to follow Gretta's guidelines?

"I can make an outfit, but I can't make a home," says Gretta, who turns to Kristan for some do-it-yourself help around the house. Kristan jumps at the opportunity to introduce Gretta to her favorite store, Home Depot, where they can copy the high-priced looks for less. "By focusing on the person, you can go into these big stores and pinpoint what you are looking for," says Kristan. "For instance, Gretta is glam, so her space should reflect that about her." A hardware store allows Kristan to get the look she wants, but gives her the freedom to explore the possibilities and create a custom twist. "We're using a chandelier in your kitchen," exclaims Kristan, "we're bringing the glam to every space in your home!"

Kristan's other secrets for customizing Gretta's space: "You have big, high walls and windows. You've got to break them up with shots of paint and curtains for big style." To create a more custom look on the walls, Kristan stretches some graphic print fabric over large canvases to hang on the walls. In order to define the functions of Gretta's loft space, Kristan paints specific walls and hangs the fabric canvases to delineate the space.
