Rachael Ray: Rachael's Daytime Talkshow

Maternity Makeover

With more than six months before her due date, 20-year-old Angie is desperate for a stylish new maternity look. "I don't want to look like I'm wearing upholstery," she says. "I want to look like I'm wearing couture."

Rachael sends Angie out to L.A. where she meets up with Brooke Burke, Rockstar: Supernova host and third time mom-to-be herself. Brooke takes Angie shopping at Nom, Lotta and La Conversation and passes on some words of wisdom every expectant mother can benefit from.

  • You don't have to dress ugly because you're pregnant. Women want wear clothes that make them feel feminine and fits their body, instead of feeling like they're wearing a big bag. Sometimes it's hard to feel pretty when you're pregnant, so wearing sexy, hip clothes helps!

  • Don't buy all of your clothes at once; you'll just outgrow them. Buy a few pieces over the course of your pregnancy to accommodate your changing body.

  • Invest in some foundation pieces in the second trimester like comfortable, black, straight-leg cotton pants with an elastic waist. "They're a great foundation piece because you can dress them up or dress them down," Brooke says. Other essential items include a little black dress, a crisp button-down or empire-waisted blouse and a few good t-shirts.

  • Dressing up for pregnant women is easy thanks to the current styles. "Empire waists, baby doll dresses and tights are all really 'in' right now," says Brooke. Also, jeans look great on everyone, and there are enough options out to make them a staple in a maternity wardrobe. Buy a few pairs and wear them during your entire pregnancy! Tunic sweaters look great with them or with leggings.

  • Dresses are super comfy so get a few of them. Faux wraps and baby dolls worn with or without leggings are great. Add a great cardigan and you can go from day to night.

  • Think outside the box when it comes to maternity shirts: Get a regular empire waist top because they have so much room for you to grow into. Then, after you have the baby, it's a non-maternity shirt you can wear while you're getting back into shape.

Angie's now ready to face the next months of her pregnancy in style. "I feel spectacular," she says. "I can't believe these are maternity clothes! I feel sexy, my husband thinks I look sexy which makes me feel even better."
