Dr. Lucas, a veterinarian at the Upstate Animal Medical Center, started the Safe Pet Partnership. This organization provides temporary shelter, food, supplies and vet care to animals rescued from domestic violence situations. They also provide a safe haven and services for adults and children who are victims of domestic violence.
