When Rachael crashed the set of CSI:NY, she got to fulfill a lifelong dream of playing a corpse. Now Melina Kanakaredes stops by Rachael's set and lets her in on a little secret. "Our exec producers decided that you were the best dead body that they have ever seen," the actress tells Rach. "But you have to hold a little stiller, and no laughing!"
Rachael and Melina sit down for some kitchen table talk, but it soon turns to closet talk when Melina shows Rachael one of her favorite items. "This is that thing in your closet that you can't live without," she admits. "My mother's going to be embarrassed, but it is the bra. The La Perla. I grew up in Akron, Ohio and nobody would ever spend this kind of money on a bra. But the way I look at it is if you amortize it over time, like a dollar a day, you can then buy a cool t-shirt at Target and it will make it look even more fabulous."
Rach's shares her favorite version of the uplifting undergarment. "It's called the 'U-Bra.' It goes way low and when you've got itty bitties, it takes them and squishes them and throws them out there and they look like biggie wiggies!"
Melina's visit to Rachael's set is a bit of a homecoming for the actress. When she was 22, Melina got her big break on Guilding Light, which filmed in the same building where Rachael tapes her show. She also starred in a commercial, which didn't go over well with her Greek parents.
Melina talks about the "controversial" ad.
Melina gets nostalgic thinking about her early days of acting and the opportunities she was given. She tells Rachael about a program where women can help other women by empowering them and helping them more forward in their lives -- Avon's Hello Tomorrow Fund. If you visit their Web site (Hello Tomorrow Fund), you can submit your idea for making a difference in someone else's life. Each week, Avon will choose one of those ideas and present that person with $5,000 to make their idea a reality. "It's something to give back to women, and to give women the opportunities that I had -- the opportunity to make differences in our communities," Melina says.
