Rachael Ray: Rachael's Daytime Talkshow

"Gift Lab" with Patty Heaton

The last time Patty Heaton dropped by, Rachael coaxed her to sing -- and then surprised her with a full-backup choir! Patty loved it, but tells Rachael that not everyone is a fan of her singing. "I have to come here to sing," she says, "because nobody in my house will listen to me! We have this satellite radio in the car and they have a Broadway channel that I'm constantly putting on and they're like, 'Mom, could you stop!'"

Patty tells Rachael that she's loved singing ever since second grade, when she used to create her own compositions and perform Barbra Streisand songs she had memorized. Rachael surprises her with a vinyl copy of the album Patty used to listen to with her older sisters, My Name is Barbra. "Oh my goodness, I could sing every song on here!" Patty squeals before launching into one of the songs to Rachael's amazement. "I cannot remember my kids names or their birthdays," Patty says, "but when it comes to my performances, I remember every line!"

Patty's latest performance is in the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie, Front of the Class. She plays a mother whose son is diagnosed with Tourette syndrome, and the film chronicles the true story of how the boy deals with his condition and ultimately grows up to become a gifted teacher. "It really shows kids how to overcome problems," Patty says, "and also shows parents how to help your kid become independent no matter what they're struggling with."

With the holidays approaching, Patty helps Rachael test some products that the whole family (and four-legged friends) can enjoy: the Cooking Mama World Kitchen game for Wii, the UNOTRON washable keyboard, and the FURminator deShedding tool, which can decrease your pet's shedding by 90%. "And the dogs love it because it feels good," Patty says.
