Q & Ray with Jo Frost
Not sure how your child will "welcome" their new baby sibling? Having trouble setting a bedtime that gives your kids enough rest while also making sure both spouses are home from work and have time to see them in the evening? Parenting pro Jo Frost answers audience questions!
Plus, get her strategy for helping a 9-month-old to sleep: "I have a technique called the Controlled Crying Timed Technique," Jo explains. "When you put your child to sleep in the afternoon, you're going to come out of the room, wait two minutes and they will cry, OK? Go back in, you're going to put your hand on their tummy — don't look at their eyes, just the bridge of their nose — say, 'Shhh,' and come back out and double the time. This is not the Ferber technique, this is not the, 'Let my child cry themselves to sleep while I'm sitting there having an anxiety attack.' This is teaching your child how to self-soothe. Do it at the lunchtime nap and then you'll be ready to go at the nighttime."
