Throwing a Party on a Budget

Throwing a Party on a Budget
Throwing a Party on a Budget

Rachael helps a viewer stretch $500 into a veritable feast for her parents' 50th wedding anniversary party. She prices out a meal from hors d'oevres to dessert that includes Baked Brie, Boeuf Bourgignon, Rice Pilaf With Smoked Almonds, Bibb Lettuce Salad and a homemade Ice Cream Cake for dessert!

Check out some of Rachael's tips for throwing a party on a budget:

• Shop at restaurant supply stores for inexpensive cookware and dishes. You can even rent big pots to cook with or plates for your function instead of buying them!

• Shop for food at the big shopping clubs like Costco or Sam's Club.

• Get large, inexpensive cuts of meat and cut them into cubes yourself for slow-cooking. It's much cheaper than getting it from the butcher at your grocery store.

Rachael breaks down the cost of the meal:

Beef: $4.50 per person

Brie: $1.50 per person

Rice: $1.00 per person

Salad: $1.98 per person

Cake: $1.70 per person

TOTAL COST PER PERSON: $10.80
