At the end of the 48-hour tradeoff, both Karen and Veronica are both exhausted but exhilarated at the prospect of showing the other how they pulled off organizing a wedding and home makeover with the clock ticking and only $2,000.
Karen's house of clutter becomes an organized and beautifully decorated home
Karen and her husband were amazed at what Veronica and her family and friends were able to accomplish. Their daughters no longer have to climb a ladder to get into their bunk beds, the heating vent has been covered up so it's no longer an eyesore but still safe for the kids, and they can actually move around the living room without tripping over storage boxes and the baby's playpen! Karen can't believe how her 738-square-foot house has been transformed. "This is a home for our children," she says in tears.
They ripped up the carpets and installed hardwood floors to relieve the allergy symptoms of Karen's husband and daughter and got all of their junk put away and organized.
Veronica's dream come true
Karen makes Veronica's dream wedding a reality.
Rachael surprises the happy couple by arranging a serenade by Smokey Robinson.
Was the tradeoff a success?
Kristan Cunningham, who oversaw the tradeoff and helped both women complete their tasks, thinks the tradeoff paid off for Karen and Veronica more than they originally thought it would. "I think both of you forgot what you were doing it for and everything became about doing it for the other person," she says. "You were all focused on giving to each other."
The true mark of success? These two women were once strangers, and now they're great friends!
