Is Your Fridge Making You Fat?
Could straightening up your fridge be the secret to slimming down? Organizational pro Peter Walsh helps set your diet up for success by showing you how to organize your fridge so you can save time (and calories!) when you are ready for a snack or a meal!
Snacks: When you get home from the grocery store, fill a clear plastic container with small yogurts and pre-cut vegetables so you grab that for a snack instead of being tempted by everything in the fridge. Cut cheese into small cubes, so you're not slicing off a big chunk each time.
Meals: Portion out protein, veggies and healthy fats so they are easy to find when you cook. Put meats together on the bottom shelf on one tray, fill a plastic bin with vegetables, and another bin with foods containing healthy fats, like avocado, nuts and olives. Get another small container to store leftovers for lunch.
Beverages: Instead of soda, create your own flavored water drinks. Combine water with lemon, lime, basil or mint in a large container.
Condiments: Store the healthier condiments like salsa, horseradish and mustard at eye level, and the more fattening options on a lower shelf so you are less likely to use them.
