Three Fizzy Spring Drinks


Looking for a fresh way to toast your mom this weekend? Rachael's husband, John, and two members of her culinary team are showing you how to make three fun and fruity drinks using fresh seltzer from a SodaStream Home Soda Maker! Watch the video to see Abigail’s Cherry-Almond Soda, Kara’s Cucumber Lemon-Lime Mint Spritzer and John’s Salty Dog Fizz, then grab the ingredients below and make your own!

  • Abigail's Cherry-Almond Soda
    1 cup frozen Bing cherries, thawed
    2 tablespoons almond syrup
    1 liter soda water
    1 scoop vanilla ice cream, optional
    2 brandied cherries, optional garnish
PREPARATION

In a blender, purée the cherries. Pour into prepared glasses, mix in the almond syrup and top with some soda water. 

 

Add a scoop of ice cream and brandied cherries for a more decadent dessert. 

  • Kara's Cucumber Lemon-Lime Mint Spritzer
    2 lemons, 1 juiced and 1 sliced
    2 limes, 1 juiced and 1 sliced
    2 tablespoons agave syrup
    12 slices cucumber
    4 large sprigs mint
    1 bottle soda water
PREPARATION

Mix lemon juice, lime juice and agave in a measuring cup.

 

In each of the bottoms of 4 glasses, lightly muddle 3 slices cucumber, a sprig of mint and a slice each of lemon and lime. Top with lemon-lime juice and soda water.

  • John's Salty Dog Fizz
    1 1/2 ounces gin
    3 ounces fresh grapefruit juice
    1/2 ounce simple syrup
    Pink sea salt, for rim
    3 ounces soda water
PREPARATION

Combine gin, grapefruit juice and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker. Shake well with ice and strain into an ice-filled, pink salt-rimmed Collins glass, top with soda and serve with straw.
