Sopranos Stars Steve Schirripa & Vincent Pastore: James Gandolfini Paid Off Friends' Mortgages

"The Sopranos" is one of the most iconic shows in TV history — and the HBO mob drama is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

Actors Steve Schirripa (Bobby Baccalieri) and Vincent Pastore (Salvatore Bonpensiero) shared some of their favorite memories from filming alongside the late James Gandolfini (Tony Soprano).

"Jim, as great of an actor as he was, he was a better guy," Steve says.

"Jimmy helped me a lot with my work. I was like a new kid on the block, I started acting late," Vincent says. "That's how Jimmy was. He cared so much about all of us."

"About everybody. The crew and family," Steve agrees. "Jim had paid off numerous people's mortgages … the people never know, to this day, that Jim paid off their mortgages."
