Whether you ran out of time, chose to save money or just didn't want to deal with the hassle of picking out a Christmas tree this year, it's still possible to add some last-minute holiday cheer to your home.
This DIY ribbon tree from top New York City event planner Jove Meyer is an easy, fun and affordable alternative to a traditional Christmas tree. And arguably, the best part is that you can set up (and disassemble) the entire thing from the comfort of your own home — in just a few minutes. That means no more having to lug a tree down the hall!

All you'll need for this project is a hula hoop or wreath, green ribbon, wrapping paper and tape. So simple!

Choose any size hoop or wreath for the base of your tree (you can adapt the DIY to fit your space and personality). If you're using a hula hoop, wrap it with green ribbon.
Then, hang streamers or more ribbon from a ceiling hook and attach each piece to the base. You can use ribbon in different shades of green for a modern-looking twist, or stick to a single hue.

Cut circles out of leftover wrapping paper and tape them on the "tree" as makeshift ornaments. You can also stick gift bows onto the base for the perfect finishing touch.
