After saving money shopping at a thrift store, the last thing you want to do is spend lots money to have all your items professionally dry cleaned before adding them to your wardrobe. Thrifting expert Iesha Gilchrist, @ieshathegr8 on Instagram, says you can "dry clean" your new finds at home, or any new dry clean only or delicate items—not just thrift store finds—and it's super simple.
"You can always use an at-home dry cleaning kit. I use them for the items that say dry clean only—and that's mainly what I thrift things like silk tops, blazers..." Iesha says. "Most at-home dry cleaning kits come with a cleaning cloth that you can throw in the dryer with your five items and it sanitizes and cleans them in the dryer. You have to dry the items for at least 20 minutes."
But, if you're hesitant to dry clean your own clothes due to fear of shrinkage, Iesha has a solution.
"Not everyone is okay with throwing their clothes in the dryer for 20 minutes, and I understand that, so that's why I recommend hand washing what you can prior to doing the at-home dry cleaning kit," explains Iesha.
