That’s what people will be saying to you once you master the art of creating a flawless smokey eye, the sizzling effect of using dark eye shadows to create mysterious, elongated cat eyes.
And — lucky for us! — our friend and beauty mogul Gretta Monahan, was kind enough to break it down for us.
Watch the video above to watch her work, or follow her step-by-step tutorial (with tips!) below.
HOW TO DO A SMOKEY EYE:
1. Apply dark color to lid and just above crease
2. Apply light color to brow bone
3. Line top lash line with liner
4. Apply mascara to top and bottom lashes
5. Apply liner to bottom lash line
SMOKEY EYE TIPS FROM GRETTA:
Going for a classic smokey eye? Use blacks and grays.
If you have brown eyes, you’re going to want to rock cool tones, like navy and purple.
If you have green or blue eyes, you’ll be all about the warm tones — browns and golds.
Don't have eyeliner? Dip a thin brush in mascara and line — voila!
And if you’re looking to have a lighter smokey overall? Skip the lower mascara and liner.
And there you go! Ready to have at it?
