- 3 tablespoons unsalted margarine
- 1 tablespoon minced onion
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 cups LACTAID® Fat Free Milk, warmed
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- White pepper to taste
Melt margarine over medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened, but not browned, about 3 minutes.
Whisk in flour and cook for 3 minutes on medium heat, whisking until flour is absorbed. Add LACTAID® Fat Free Milk and whisk constantly until the mixture is thick and smooth, about 10 minutes. Season to taste with salt and white pepper.
