Got the winter blues? Interior Designer Nate Berkus is showing you how to bring natural elements inside long before the temperatures warm up. And the best part – all these tips are "cheap and cheerful" as Rachael puts it.

Hack No. 1: Use a simple natural-fiber wool rug to re-vamp your fabric headboard. Tip: The rug doesn’t have to be the exact dimensions of your headboard – use a smaller rug for a splash of color, and even a pretty scarf would do the trick!

Hack No. 2: Nate's next tip is extremely cost effective if you have access to a wooded area. Just take birch logs and saw them down to make coasters that you can use in your own home or give to friends as hostess gifts.

Hack No. 3: If everything is brown outdoors, bring a little color inside by planting greenery in soft woven baskets. Tip: Use some old bubble wrap to give your plants some extra height.

Hack No. 4: This next hack is pretty transformative – take furniture you can't currently use and repurpose it. Nate's apartment came with a farmhouse dining table that he and his husband Jeremiah had no need for – so they cut it in half and used it as a console in their living room!

Hack No. 5: People don't think of metallic décor as being outdoor-themed but as Nate points out, "Metals come from nature." And, as Rachael says, metallic can have a big impact: "An element of shine in a room makes such a difference." Nate shows you how to take a simple white vase and paint it with a simple geometric pattern to give it a whole new sparkle.
