Erin and Betty's Country Barbeque Spareribs

Serves 6
2 large onions, chopped
1/2 cup oil
2 8-ounce cans tomato sauce
1 cup water
1/2 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons Worchestershire sauce
4 tablespoons mustard
4 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoons pepper
5 pounds country-style ribs (not racks of ribs)

Cook onion until tender in oil, add remaining ingredients except for the ribs. Let simmer for 15 minutes.

Preheat broiler. Cut spareribs into serving pieces. Brown under broiler then lay in roasting pan and pour sauce over spareribs.

Simmer or cook slowly (covered) for about 1 1/2 hours.
