From Italian-style fried chicken to veggie-loaded noodle bowls and easy weeknight pastas, these were our readers’ favorite recipes in August.

No. 10: Fennel and Rosemary Fried Chicken

This Italian-style fried chicken is ultra-infused with fennel and rosemary. First, Rach uses a fennel and rosemary brine, then adds fennel powder to the breading and throws a rosemary sprig right into the frying oil.

No. 9: Chicken Cacciatore with Roasted Peppers

Rach calls this the “most insanely delicious cacciatore ever” and for good reason – chicken braises to perfection in a transformative bath of red wine, mushrooms and peppers.

No. 8: Hungarian Paprika Chicken

Pretty much the definition of comfort food -- chicken thighs cooked with lots of onions and sweet and hot paprika and served with unpretentious boiled potatoes.

No. 7: Fish or Shrimp Fry

If you’ve got a craving for fried fish, but don’t want to leave the house, why not fry up some seafood at home using Rach’s beer batter, with malt vinegar slaw and dill tartar sauce for serving.

No. 6: Bacon and Bay Tomato Sauce on Brown Spaghetti

This super-fast pasta dish is simple perfection – a bacon and onion tomato sauce featuring fresh bay leaf served over whole wheat pasta.

No. 5: Fat Spaghetti with Garlicky Tomato Sauce

This 5-ingredient pasta sauce is perfect for a quick weeknight dinner. Rach cooks up loads of garlic with cherry tomatoes, passata, fresh basil and tosses with bucatini and Parmesan cheese. Dinner is done!

No. 4: Tarragon-Scented Chicken Tetrazzini

For a comforting meal the whole family will gobble up, make this creamy tarragon-scented mushroom and pea sauce, and serve with chicken and egg noodles.

No. 3: Noodle Bowls With Green Veggies

This vegan dish is an excellent way to encourage your family to eat their veggies. A bounty of fresh vegetables are tossed with udon noodles for a satisfying make-your-own-takeout dish.

No. 2: Chicken and Vegetable Tagliatelle

Rach calls this recipe a mix between a chicken pot pie and a pasta primavera – say no more, we’re sold!

No. 1: Sicilian Lemon Spaghetti

For this simple but delectable spaghetti, Rach tosses her pasta with arugula and a quick sauce that is loaded with garlic and lemon, and garnishes with pistachio, basil and Grana Padano cheese.
