Coffee-flavored liqueur + tequila give this Mexican coffee an extra kick, while the cream, sugar + cinnamon make it a real treat. It's so good and satisfying, you can even serve it instead of dessert!

"This cozy coffee cocktail always reminds me of my Aunt Donna," says Jeanette. "Special occasion dinners are never over until the Mexican coffee is poured. Cheers!"

It's also a festive, delicious way to cap off date night at home or Valentine's Day!

Ingredients

  • 8 to 10 ounces freshly brewed hot coffee
  • 2 ounces coffee liqueur, such as Kahlua
  • 2 ounces tequila
  • 3 ounces heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • Ground cinnamon, for garnish

Yield

Serves: 2

Preparation

Fill 2 Irish coffee mugs, tall mugs or glasses with hot coffee a little more than halfway. Add the coffee liqueur and tequila and stir well.

Whip the cream using a hand mixer until it’s somewhere between liquid and whipped cream—you want the whipped cream to be loose and pourable. Add the sugar and whip another few seconds to combine.

Hold a teaspoon over the top of a mug upside down. Slowly pour the whipped cream over the back of the spoon (it should float on top for pretty presentation!). Repeat with the other glass. Garnish with a pinch of cinnamon.

Always Drink Responsibly.
