Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 ounces baking chocolate, (unsweetened)
  • 2 cups sugar, granulated
  • 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 eggs, large
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup chai tea powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, kosher

Yield

Serves: Makes 24 cookies

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Put the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and melt it in the microwave. 3-5 minutes, stirring every minute until completely melted. Let cool.

In an electric mixer, mix together the sugar and butter until totally combined. With the mixer on low, slowly add in the melted chocolate. Scrape the bowl and mix again. Mix in the eggs one at a time, then the vanilla. Scrape the bowl once more and mix.

Combine the flour, chai, baking powder and salt in a bowl. Slowly add the dry ingredients into the mixing bowl with the mixer on low. Scrape sides of bowl as needed.

Place tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet then bake until the cookies are set, 10-12 minutes. Cookies should soft to the touch. Let them sit on the baking sheet for 1-2 minutes then remove them to a wire rack to cool completely. Repeat as needed.
