In the spirit of Halloween, John uses an apple liquor to make a sparkling vodka cocktail that won't require you to dunk your head into anything.

How To Make Cinnamon Simple Syrup:

"Simple syrup is half-sugar, half-water," John says. "You heat it up until the sugar melts, and I added a small handful of cinnamon sticks. So they steep in there, and then you can store it in a fridge—I use a little squeezy bottle."

John created this fall drink to pair with Rach's Apple Mac & Cheese with Brats.

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce vodka
  • ½ ounce calvados or Applejack
  • ½ ounce fresh lemon juice
  • ½ ounce cinnamon simple syrup
  • 3 to 4 ounces sparkling hard cider
  • Dehydrated apple slice, for garnish

Yield

Serves: 1

Preparation

Combine vodka, calvados or Applejack, lemon juice and simple syrup in an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously and strain into an ice-filled collins glass. Top with cider and garnish with apple slice and a straw.

Always drink responsibly.
