Rach's husband John uses ouzo, honey and lemon to make a cocktail spritzer he's dubbed "The Bubbly Greek."
"Ouzo tastes like sambuca," John says. "It's basically a licorice-tasting spirit."
Inspired by Greek flavors, John used honey instead of sugar to make the simple syrup (equal parts sugar and hot water) for this cocktail.
- 3 ounces ouzo or vodka
- 1 ½ ounces lemon juice
- Honey syrup or simple syrup, to taste
- Club soda, for topping
- Fennel tops, for garnish
In a cocktail shaker, combine ouzo, lemon juice, and honey syrup. Add ice, cover and shake vigorously, then strain into 2 ice-filled glasses. Top with club soda and garnish with fennel tops.
