Playing How To Make A Classic Margarita Cocktail By David Burtka

Actor and chef David Burtka shares from his new cookbook Life Is A Party his recipe for the classic tequila drink.

"A classic marg doesn't use simple syrup, but I like a sweet splash in mine," David says. "Since this recipe has only five main ingredients, don't skimp on quality: Always use fresh lime juice, and invest in a top-shelf triple sec such as Combier or Cointreau."

David uses his recipe for simple syrup to sweeten his cocktail.

Preparation

Fill a cocktail shaker to the top with ice, then add the tequila, triple sec, lime juice, and simple syrup. Shake like crazy, then strain into two rocks glasses filled with fresh ice.

Dip a lime wedge halfway into salt, then make a shallow cut in the wedge and perch it on the rim of the glass. Repeat with another lime wedge for the second glass. Serve immediately.

Always drink responsibly.
