How to Make a Blood Orange Negroni | John Cusimano
Rach shares an easy recipe for drunken berries, where finishing touches like fresh whipped cream, toasted almonds and orange zest really make the dish.
- 3 pints mixed berries—blueberries, raspberries or black berries, hulled and quartered strawberries
- 2 tablespoons Amaretto
- 2 tablespoons orange liqueur, such as Cointreau or Grand Marnier
- 1 tablespoon orange zest plus juice of 1 orange, (blood oranges if still available)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons superfine sugar
- ½ cup sliced almonds, toasted
Place a metal or glass bowl in freezer to chill.
Combine berries with the Amaretto and orange liqueur, add orange zest and juice of 1 orange.
Remove bowl from freezer and whisk cream in cold bowl to make whipped cream, season with sugar.
Serve berries topped with whipped cream and toasted almonds.
