Rach shares an easy recipe for drunken berries, where finishing touches like fresh whipped cream, toasted almonds and orange zest really make the dish.

This recipe is part of Rach's Easy Holiday Spring Brunch menu, which also includes Swiss Chard Strata, Roasted Sausages or Plant-Based Sausages, and Cherry Tomatoes With Herbs

Ingredients

  • 3 pints mixed berries—blueberries, raspberries or black berries, hulled and quartered strawberries
  • 2 tablespoons Amaretto
  • 2 tablespoons orange liqueur, such as Cointreau or Grand Marnier
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest plus juice of 1 orange, (blood oranges if still available)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons superfine sugar
  • ½ cup sliced almonds, toasted

Yield

Serves: 6

Preparation

Place a metal or glass bowl in freezer to chill.

Combine berries with the Amaretto and orange liqueur, add orange zest and juice of 1 orange.

Remove bowl from freezer and whisk cream in cold bowl to make whipped cream, season with sugar.

Serve berries topped with whipped cream and toasted almonds.
