You only need five ingredients for this budget-friendly pork steak recipe. So easy and they cook up deliciously tender thanks to a soy-honey marinade that also doubles as a glaze.
WHAT ARE PORK STEAKS?
Pork steaks are cut from the boneless section of the pork shoulder. While pork shoulder is normally something you braise or cook for a long time, marinating it, cooking it on the grill and turning it frequently keeps the texture very tender.
SERVING TIP: Our Senior Culinary Producer Jeanette Donnarumma likes to slice these thin and serve with lettuce for wrapping with Fresno peppers, cilantro, pickled ginger and chopped peanuts, but they're also just as delicious served with a simple side of oven-roasted broccoli or oven fries.
In a bowl, whisk together the olive oil, soy sauce, honey and lime juice until the honey is dissolved. Pour it into a food storage bag and add in pepper and garlic, reserving ¼ cup of the marinade for basting. Add the pork steaks to the marinade and marinate for 1 hour at room temperature.
Preheat an outdoor grill or indoor grill pan to medium high heat. Remove the steaks from the marinade and place on the grill. Grill for 2 minutes, flip the steaks, baste the steaks with reserved marinade and repeat until they've grilled for 10 minutes total. Remove from grill and let the steaks rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
