For his basic margarita recipe, combine 2 ounces tequila, 1 ounce triple sec (such as Cointreau), 2 tablespoons lime juice (1 lime, juiced), a splash of simple syrup and/or fruit juice (optional) and ice in a cocktail shaker; shake, then strain into glass over ice.
