"Queer Eye's" Karamo Gives Advice on Fostering to Adopt and Building a Family Environment

"Queer Eye's" Karamo answers a viewer named Erin's question on how to best build a family environment when fostering to adopt, while respecting where the child came from.

"Congratulations on taking that step to foster. There [are] so many kids in foster care that want to be adopted, and the fact that you're taking that journey, opening your heart...as a parent, you're going to always be doing the right thing and sometimes you're going to feel like you're doing the wrong thing, so just know that you got it. Be patient with yourself, be loving with yourself—that child is just happy that you're giving them a home," says Karamo.

And as far as how to integrate a new child into the family, Karamo shares his tips.

"To integrate your family, it's about communication. We forget sometimes as an adult that children have their own opinions on life and we have to respect them. We have to allow them to set their boundaries, talk about what they want, be patient with them to share with you," he explains.
