3 Chef-Approved Holiday Wine Pairings
We’re heading into the holiday season, which is really entertaining season — so we called in Chef Josh Capon to help us figure out what to serve our guests!
Josh not only whipped up three delicious dishes for you to steal for your holiday spread, but he also suggested a wine to pair with each one. (Your guests will think you're a wine connoisseur!)
DISH: Red Chili & Ginger Marinated Grilled Shrimp Skewers
WINE PAIRING: Columbia Valley Riesling from Chateau Ste. Michelle
Josh says this is a great appetizer for parties or holiday meals with a flavorful wine that’s easy to drink. Plus, the crisp apple aromas in the wine will play nicely off the heat of the chile and ginger in the dish.

DISH: Wild Mushroom Flatbread With Pumpkin Seed Pesto
WINE PAIRING: 14 Hands Hot to Trot Red Blend
Josh calls this a fruit-forward wine that’s versatile and can pair with a variety of dishes, so he says it’s great when you have a bunch of different appetizers. His go-to? A fancy flatbread with a ton of different flavors!
DISH: Soy Braised Beef Short Ribs With Parsnip Puree, Green Apple Salad & Shaved Horseradish
WINE PAIRING: Grand Estates Cabernet Sauvignon from Columbia Crest
The richness of the short rib and the earthiness of the parsnips will pair really well with the dark berry and plum aromas from the wine, Josh tells us.
