Measles: Why does it seem like the measles are infecting so many people as of late? Dr. Ian explains that one major problem is less people are getting themselves vaccinated. Since measles is a respiratory disease, it can quickly spread and affect many people. Did you know it can live in the air for up to two hours after somebody with measles coughs? “The best way to prevent measles is vaccination,” explains Dr. Ian. “There’s no other way to prevent it unless you have your kid or you live in a tube or a vacuum because you’re going to come into contact.”
