How Tall Should My Christmas Tree Be? Use This Equation to Find Out

It’s tempting to pick out a Christmas tree without doing any prep work beforehand (it’s supposed to be fun, after all!). But we can all agree that nothing’s worse than coming home and realizing it just. Won’t. Fit.

So, take it from HGTV’s "The Cousins," Anthony Carrino and John Colaneri, and take measurements beforehand!

(We promise, it’s SO simple!)

They suggest taking your room height and subtracting the size of your tree topper and your tree stand. Oh, and don’t forget to subtract about 6 inches of wiggle room, too -- because hey, nobody’s perfect!
