Driving while drowsy may not seem as dangerous as driving while drunk or while texting, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that there are 100,000 police-reported crashes a year as a direct result of driver fatigue. To see what really happens when a tired person gets behind the wheel, Dr. Ian Smith stayed awake for more than 30 hours before taking a test drive at the Liberty Mutual Research Institute for Safety.
