Richard Blais’ Pumpkin Seed Trail Mix
- Fresh pumpkin seeds
- Apple pie spice
- Freeze-dried apple pieces, chopped
- Currants
- Dried and sweetened pineapple cubes
- Chocolate chunks or chips
- Sesame rice crisps
- Teriyaki turkey jerky, chopped
- Toasted hazelnut pieces
- Smoked Marcona almonds
- Leftover Halloween candy, chopped small
Clean the pumpkin seeds thoroughly and soak in water overnight at room temperature. Drain into a colander and let dry slightly.
Toss the almost-dry seeds with apple pie spice. Toast the sliced seeds in a low oven (about 200°F) for a few hours until crispy and dry.
