Nate’s and Jeremiah’s Fresh Lime Jalapeno Margaritas

Food & Fun - By on
Ingredients
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 jalapeno, cut in half lengthwise
  • 1 scant cup fresh lime juice (from 6 to 8 limes)
  • 1 1/2 cups Patron Reposado tequila
  • 1/3 cup Grand Marnier
  • Lime wedges, for garnish
Preparation

To make a jalapeno simple syrup, combine the water and sugar in a small saucepan and stir over medium heat until sugar has dissolved. Add jalapeno halves and increase the heat to bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for 5-7 minutes or until the jalapeno turns a khaki green color. Remove from the heat and let cool.

Strain the syrup to remove the pepper and any seeds. (Can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.)

For the margaritas, combine 1/3 cup of jalapeño simple syrup with the lime juice, tequila and Grand Marnier. Serve over ice in double old-fashioned glasses top with a lime wedge.

*Nate tossed in some ginger because Rach had some on set -- try it for a little extra spice!
