Fun DIY Backyard Party Projects

Design expert John Gidding is visiting Rach and showing off three amazing projects that you can do in your backyard for warm-weather parties!

Backyard Party Tent

John shows you how to make a fun party tent with products that you might already have lying around the house. He suggests draping blankets, sheets, or other fabrics over structures you already have in your backyard, like a fence. You just bring some indoor/outdoor rugs outside to layer for the floor of the tent, and scatter some pillows and side tables. How cool!

DIY Flameless Lanterns

This couldn’t be easier and takes all the fire hazard out of candlelight. John takes mercury-glass style mason jars and inserts flameless candles. Your guests will think you caught a jar of fireflies!

DIY Rustic Centerpieces

Create your own rustic centerpiece out of found objects! Just superglue sticks you find in the yard onto cans from your recycling bin. Use them as flower vases, and send the charming displays home as party favors with your guests when they leave!
