6 Amazing Outdoor DIY Projects You Can Do This Weekend
by Lisa Lozano
Drew and Jonathan Scott, otherwise known as the Property Brothers from HGTV, are back and showing off 6 easy ways you can dress up your outdoor space without spending a fortune. Watch them go head to head in a “Tip Off.”
No. 1: Whiskey Barrel Table
Drew starts the tip-off with a couldn’t-be-easier-to-make whiskey barrel outdoor table. Just pick up a whiskey barrel planter at the hardware or garden store, paint and stain if you like, then fill with accessories of your choice and cover with a round glass tabletop.
No. 2: Homemade Fire Pit
Next up, Jonathan shows off his DIY fire pit. He just took a tin planter, topped it with a grate, then put a can of Sterno (used by caterers to keep foot hot) in the center. Next, put a DIY glass box around the Sterno, then surrounded it with decorative rocks. Watch the video for instructions.
No. 3: DIY Pom Pom Lamp
Drew shows you how to dress up a basic paper lantern by gluing crumpled up coffee filters to it in a fun pom-pom shape.
No. 4: Rustic Lit Screen
If you want to add visual interest to your yard for an event, just take a three-panel room dividing screen and pop out the interior. Thread wire vertically, and then weave decorative branches and Christmas lights throughout.
No. 5: Life Size Checkerboard
Drew created a lifesize checkerboard out of artificial grass and spray paint, using painted tin pie plates as the checkers!
No. 6: DIY Fun Chalkboard Photobooth
This project is fun for the whole family. Jonathan shows you how to make a plywood stand with a cut-out “window” for taking pictures. Paint with chalkboard paint and decorate for each season.
Any one of these projects would make your next outdoor gathering a success! Tell us in the comments which one you’d like to try first.
