It's Easier Than You Think to Fix Bad Breath — Here's How In 2 Easy Steps!

Life - By on

Bad breath got you feeling down?

You're not alone!

According to our friend board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Youn, more than 50 million Americans suffer from bad breath.

But it doesn't have to be that way!

Here’s an interesting fact from the doc: "People erroneously think it's due to not brushing your teeth or due to cavities or gum disease. But it’s actually from bacteria that grow way in the back of our tongue.”

It’s called anaerobic bacteria, and it produces what Dr. Youn calls “volatile sulfur odors."

No thanks!

Not everyone has this, he says, but fortunately, for those who do, there is a solution!

Dr. Youn says that the best way to treat bad breath is not just to brush your teeth more, but to actually get this bacteria out of your mouth by scraping your tongue. Knock out bad breath with this one-two punch for kicking anaerobic bacteria to the curb!

STEP 1: SCRAPE YOUR TONGUE

"You do a tongue scraping," says Dr. Youn. "You take a [tongue scraper], you grab your tongue, you stick it out as far as you can, and scrape the back to get rid of those bacteria that are producing that foul odor."

STEP 2: RINSE YOUR MOUTH

But not just with any mouthwash. According to Dr. Youn, you want to use chlorine dioxide mouthwash because "it'll destroy the bacteria as well as get rid of that foul sulfur smell."
And, yes, we asked — you have to do BOTH for this to work! And twice a day — once in the morning and once at night.

(But still brush your teeth, of course.)

So get scrubbing and swishing, ladies and gents!
