You CAN Reupholster Your Chair Seats Yourself (And for Less Than $50!)

Home & DIY - By on

Have you ever picked up an antique, thinking it's retro-chic, but made it home and decided that's it's… well, just retro? (And maybe not in the best way?)

Take heart — you aren't alone!

Our viewer, Loren, picked up these burnt orange chairs — probably from "[around the] '50s," she says — for just $5. (Steal!) But while she loved the price, once she got home, she ultimately felt that they could use a little facelift.

HGTV star Chip Wade to the rescue! The celebrity carpenter took one look at those chairs and realized there was an easy fix: reupholstery. And it only took him a few minutes and $50 to get it done!

"When you're re-finishing chairs, you want to make sure you don't interrupt the structural integrity of the chair," says Chip.

That's why he focused on the cushions. And spoiler alert, it only took him two tools to redo those — a pair of scissors and a stapler!
