Celery Margarita Inspired by Cel-Ray Soda | John Cusimano

Food & Fun - By on

"I'm making a margarita-style cocktail," says John. "I call this the Cel Ray margarita. It's a bit of a play on my wife's name, but it's also a bit of a spin on [Dr. Brown's] Cel-Ray, which is basically a celery soda." The drink is refreshing and, as John humbly notes, tastes "amazing!"

Ingredients
  • 1 stalk celery, rough chopped, plus fronds, for garnish
  • ½ jalapeno, seeded and chopped, plus 1 slice, for garnish
  • 1 ½ ounces tequila blanco
  • 1 ½ ounces St-Germain elderflower liqueur
  • 1 ½ ounces lime juice
  • 1 bar spoon mezcal
Preparation

Muddle the chopped celery and jalapeno at the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Add the tequila, St-Germain and lime juice. Add ice, shake to chill and double strain into an ice-filled copper mug or rocks glass. Top with the mezcal and garnish with celery fronds and jalapeno slice.

Always drink responsibly.
