My Bloody Valentine Cocktail | John Cusimano
Wintry blood oranges are the secret ingredient to John's cocktail, a seasonal ode to the classic champagne-based French 75 (check out his Italian 75 here).
John created this drink to go with the Valentine's Day dinner he made for Rach: Chicken Saltimbocca with Wilted Garlic Spinach. And don't miss the Dark Chocolate Almond Torte With Fresh Berries that Rach's sister made for them!
- 1½ ounces gin
- ¾ ounce fresh squeezed blood orange juice
- ¾ ounce simple syrup
- 2 dashes Campari
- Ice
- 3 to 4 ounces champagne or sparkling wine
- Blood orange twist, for garnish
Combine gin, orange juice, simple syrup and Campari in a cocktail shaker. Add ice, shake and strain into a chilled champagne flute or coupe. Top with champagne and garnish with blood orange twist.
Always drink responsibly.
