In celebration of the burger — which Rach calls "that perfect thing that always comes with a bun" — we invited two of our very own viewers, Anna and Irene, to compete in a "Best Burger Showdown" right here on our show.
So, what kinds of burgers are these ladies bringing to the table?
Irene, a viewer from Bayside, NY, is serving up a Greek-style burger inspired by her Greek heritage. With ingredients including breadcrumbs, feta cheese and cucumber tzatziki sauce, the description of her recipe alone is mouthwatering!
Anna, a viewer from Whitestone, NY, has been a dietitian for over 20 years. She's making her famous "Better Burger" — a mix of ground beef and lean turkey mixed with honey Dijon mustard and her own special blend of spices. Yum-o!
Judging the competition is Chef Jordan Andino, the mastermind behind Flip Sigi — a Filipino Taqueria in New York City.
When Rach asked Chef Jordan what he's looking for as a judge, he shared his number one rule: the importance of the bun-to-meat ratio!
"We've got the buns covered for sure," Rach says, "because today, we're working with Pepperidge Farm."
They provided the buns used for the burgers, but that's not all. There's a $1,000 prize for the competitor with the winning burger!
Watch the video above to see how the burgers stacked up, and find out which competitor went home with the title (and $1,000).
Don't worry, though, because thanks to Pepperidge Farm, no one went home empty-handed. The runner up got a $500 prize!
And that's not even all. All of you at home have a chance to be a winner, too, in Pepperidge Farm's Respect the Bun Promotion. Go to respectthebun.com to find out how submitting a photo of your delicious hamburger or hot dog could win you big bucks!
