When it comes to your skincare budget, there are plenty of options available that won't break the bank. Facial cleansers, for example, are one of the drugstore skincare products recommended by dermatologist Dr. Michelle Henry. But if you are going to splurge on your skincare, she says moisturizers are the place to spend a little more.
"These are products that are staying on your skin, they're living on your skin," Dr. Michelle says. "You really want to have those active ingredients. In order to have a high concentration of active ingredients, sometimes it costs a little bit more."
Splurge Moisturizers That Are Worth the Money
1. Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream
"It's fantastic, it's rich — for cold days, it's beautiful," the NYC dermatologist says.
And while this product might be a splurge, keep in mind that a small dab of moisturizer is all you need for your face, so "this can last many months. You don't need to use a lot," Dr. Michelle says.
2. SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore
"This is a slightly higher price point, but a beautiful product," the derm says. "It gives you back those natural oils and fats."
As we age, we start to lose our natural oils a little bit faster, so our skin gets drier. That's why hydrating ingredients are so important in skincare products, Dr. Michelle says.
3. SUPERGOOP! Unseen Sunscreen/Primer
"It's translucent instead of transparent," the derm says.
