Our prep kitchen’s a little obsessed with donuts and their dessert-hack potential: Culinary producer Grant Melton shows you how easy it is to turn a cake donut into a decadent ice cream sandwich! Get more easy ideas for turning donuts into decadent desserts here.
Ingredients
- 4 chocolate cake donuts
- 1 pint vanilla ice cream
- 1/2 cup chocolate sauce
- 1 cup chopped salted peanuts
Yield
Serves: 4
Preparation
Halve each donut horizontally. Scoop 1/4 of the ice cream (about ½ cup) onto the donut bottoms, drizzle each with 2 tablespoons chocolate sauce, and set the donut tops into place. Place the peanuts on a plate and roll the sides of each donut ice cream sandwich in the chopped nuts.
Place the sandwiches on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet and freeze until firm. Once hard, cut in half and serve immediately, or wrap individually in wax paper and freeze until ready to serve.
