Minimizing alcohol intake is good for your energy levels and can even improve sleep quality, but for those of us who love a cocktail, this is a great "mocktail" for detoxing and/or if you simply don't drink, says The Genius Life author Max Lugavere.
It's a smart drink because it gives you a boost of hydration, electrolytes from the salt, vitamin C from the lime and has almost no calories, he adds.

- 2 tablespoons coarse salt
- 1 lime, halved
- 12 ounces sparkling or seltzer water
- 12 ice cubes
Place salt on a plate and distribute evenly.
Run lime around the rims of 2 glasses.
As if you were making a margarita, dip the glass, rim side down, into the salt. Coat evenly.
Fill the glasses with ice.
Squeeze half a lime into each glass.
Fill with sparkling water.
