Former contestant on Food Network's "Rachael vs. Guy Kids Cookoff," Alessandra Ciuffo tried out subbing avocado for bread buns to make these turkey burger sliders keto.
Ingredients
- ½ pound ground lean turkey
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Crushed red pepper, to taste
- Olive oil, for cooking burgers
- 4 rip avocado
- 4 American cheese slices
- 4 tomato slices
- 4 pieces butter lettuce
- Sriracha mayo
- Sesame seeds
Yield
Preparation
Season ground turkey with salt, pepper, and chili flakes and form into 4 small patties.
In a skillet, heat oil over medium heat and cook patties for 5 minutes on each side. Cover pan and let rest 5 minutes.
For each avocado "bun," halve lengthwise and then make a small incision on the skin and peel; repeat for both halves. Slice a small thin round from the rounded side of an avocado half so that it sits flat on the plate for the "bun bottom". Repeat with the remaining avocados.
Assemble the burgers: Place each patty on a "bun" bottom, then top with cheese, tomato, lettuce, and sriracha mayo. Top with the remaining avocado top "buns" and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
