If you live close to a body of water, no doubt you’ll be hitting the beach sometime in the not-so-distant future. Alec Baldwin’s beautiful wife Hilaria, who just welcomed their second child together, reveals her eight must-haves for the beach. (Interview previously taped.)

No. 1: A Hat

Hilaria brings a big floppy hat to keep the sun off her face, which is important for everyone.

No. 2: Water

It’s so important to stay hydrated when you’re going to be outdoors in the summer.

Tip: Rachael points out that if you plan to partake in alcoholic beverages during your beach day, it’s even more important to add a lot of water to your daily intake.

No. 3: Flip-flops

No one wants to shake sand out of their shoes at the end of the day, so flip-flops are the perfect choice.

No. 4: Sunscreen for Face and Body

Hilaria and Rach suggest using separate sunscreens for your face and body, so that each area gets the specific treatment it needs.

No. 5: A Good Book (or Two)

Hilaria loves to read on the beach so she reveals two books she has in her beach bag: The Red Tent by Anita Diamant, and The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer.

No. 6: A Summer Coverup

While there are many coverups on the market, Hilaria suggests trying something different – why not just grab a long sleeved button up shirt from your husband’s closet?

No. 7: A Healthy Snack

Hilaria always packs an apple for a quick, portable and nutritious nibble.

No. 8: A Beach Towel

You can’t forget a big, fluffy beach towel to lay out on and to wrap yourself in when you step out of the waves.
