Behind the Scenes of "Wife Swap"

We've all seen these reality shows where families seem to be at each other's throats, but Rachael wonders, "How do these people end up on TV? Why would they want to be on TV showing all their business?" To find out the answers, Rach is taking an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at a show with a lot of heat -- in the kitchen and throughout the house -- *Wife Swap,* where families swap lives -- and wives. "We're looking for people with really outgoing personalities," says casting director Heather Teta. "People who are super passionate about the way that they live and the way that they're raising their kids." One such family who wowed the producers with their story was the McCaslins, a family of power-lifters who would rather spend quality time in the gym than around the TV. A bit hesitant to open their lives on national TV, mom Sandi said, "We talked to our girls, and they had the same opinion we did -- that this is going to be such a cool adventure!" During the two weeks that bench-press queen Sandi switched lives with a tea party-throwing mom who sees no place for a lady in a gym, she learned that reality TV is a lot more real than she expected. In addition to having no contact with her family, Sandi's accommodations caught her off-guard. "I thought I would be staying in a hotel," she admits. "I really didn't think I'd be staying with the host family. That was a huge wakeup call!" After the two families got their real moms back (watch tonight's @[*Wife Swap*](http://abc.go.com/primetime/wifeswap/index?pn=index) to see all the drama), Sandi says she learned something very important. "You don't know how amazing your family is until you are taken out of that comfort zone and smacked into some place where you would never be," she says. "You appreciate your family so much more and I didn't even think that was possible."
